BGF’s Head of Portfolio wins Private Equity Lifetime Achievement award
John Swarbrick, BGF’s Head of Portofolio was recently awarded The Roger Powell Lifetime Achievement at Insider‘s Yorkshire Dealmakers Awards 2013. The event was attended by Yorkshire’s finance community who turned out in force to recognise the achievements of the corporate finance community. With a long and powerful track record of investing in the UK mid-market, John has sat on wide ranging SME boards in sectors including software, printing, retailing, pharmaceuticals and aerospace engineering.
Head of Portfolio
John is responsible for overseeing BGF’s rapidly growing portfolio of high growth entrepreneurial businesses and also sits on the Investment Committee. He is based in Manchester but divides his time between BGF’s seven regional offices.
John has a strong track record of investing in the UK mid-market and, over the course of his career, has sat on a wide variety of SME boards in sectors that include software, printing, retailing, pharmaceuticals and aerospace engineering. Prior to joining BGF in November 2012, John was at LDC which he joined in 1998, opening the East Midlands office before moving to head the Leeds office in 2000. Before LDC he was finance director of a private equity backed textile group. John began his career as a corporate finance advisor with PwC and is an Economics graduate from Leeds University.
