Speaker biographies:
Pera Technology’s head of financial channels, Martin Avison has raised £m’s in grant, debt and equity funding for manufacturing, technology and high growth businesses. He is a member of the British Venture Capital Association (BVCA), sits on the technical committee for the British Business Angel Association (BBAA), chairs the meetings for both the Innovation and High Growth funds for the Princes Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) and possesses an MBA from the University of Edinburgh, his dissertation being on the commercialisation of equity backed businesses.
Duncan joined BGF in August 2011 as an Investment Director in its Edinburgh office. Duncan’s remit is to generate investment opportunities in Scotland and the North of England. He will also be instrumental in building a team of professionals to complete investments throughout the region. Duncan’s most recent role was in the retail sector where he was Finance Director of a chain of high fashion stores. Prior to that Duncan was a Director of Dunedin Capital Partners where he led a number of mid-market buyout transactions throughout the UK between 2001 and 2009.
Duncan holds an MA from the University of Cambridge. He is also a chartered accountant having qualified with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
Kevin was appointed Regional Director, East of Scotland, Corporate Coverage, Corporate & Institutional Banking in 2007. Corporate Coverage manages relationships and provides banking and financial services to businesses with a turnover in excess of £25m. Kevin started his career in corporate banking 15 years ago, and has held a variety of roles in relationship banking from large listed businesses as well as mid-market corporates and SMEs. As Regional Director he supports businesses from a range of sectors including manufacturing where he has taken a keen interest in alternative debt funding models for the sector over a number of years. Kevin is a Chartered Banker at The Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland and holds an MBA from The Edinburgh Business School.
