Phil Hollingdale (Serial Entrepreneur)
Founded, developed and managed five technology businesses with successful exits. Now developing Staffcare, a software as a service (SaaS) business for pensions auto enrolment and workplace savings, through its next stage of growth having sold it to SimplyBiz Group in December 2013.
Experience includes operating as a CEO working with Angel Investors and Venture Capital, conducting business development selling direct to end clients and via distribution partners. Launching start-up businesses, getting them into a market dominant position and then exiting. 18 years online experience in e-commerce and Software as a Service, 25 years financial services sector experience and 35 years technology sales experience to SMEs and large multinationals. Now starting to invest in early stage / start-up tech businesses.
Chris Dobson (CEO of The Exchange Lab)
Chris Dobson joined The Exchange Lab in 2014 as Executive Chairman and became Chief Executive Officer in 2015. Chris played an instrumental role in the company’s acquisition by WPP in December 2015.Dobson’s primary responsibilities in this role are to run The Exchange Lab board and provide strategic direction for the company while helping drive growth and establish new relationships with external stakeholders and clients. Prior to joining The Exchange Lab, Dobson was Executive Vice President and General Manager of the BBC Advertising Division at BBC Worldwide. During his time at the BBC, Dobson created the division to service national and international commercial TV channels and online services and was responsible for advertising monetisation strategy and execution across all its commercial media assets across TV, online and mobile. He managed sales and marketing teams in 19 offices across the US, EMEA and Asia. Dobson has also held senior positions at Microsoft, Zenith Optimedia and MTV Networks Europe
Chris Hodges (BGF)
Chris is an investment professional and non-executive director gained over 15 years with 3i, The Carlyle Group and BGF.
In his current role at BGF Chris develops equity solutions to unlock growth in ambitious UK companies, working with management teams and shareholders to align on a strategy to drive long term equity value.
Having served on the boards of companies including The Exchange Lab, The Mill and Four Communications Chris has experience in the creative services and media technology industries. He has also operated in sectors including software, defence/security, engineering, semiconductors, telecommunications and alternative energy. His broader responsibilities at BGF include portfolio oversight for the South East region, and leading business development activities across Cambridge, East Anglia and Essex.
Chris Lewis (Results International)
Chris brings almost 20 years technology sector M&A experience to Results International. He joined the firm in May 2014 from KPMG Corporate Finance where he headed up the Technology M&A practice. Before KPMG he spent the previous eleven years advising high-growth and large-cap technology companies on mergers and acquisitions, public and private fund-raisings and strategic options at Arma Partners and JPMorgan. During his career, Chris has worked on more than 50, primarily cross-border, transactions involving organisations from across Europe, North America and Asia as well as Australia and South Africa. Chris’ most recent transactions include Avecto’s $49m growth equity investment from JMI, the minority investment in Zinc Ahead by Accel-KKR, Pushbutton’s sale to Amazon.com, the disposal of Irdeto’s billing software business to Hansen and neoworks’ sale to Salmon/WPP.
Sean Duffy (Barclays)
Sean leads the TMT and High Growth Group for Barclays Corporate Banking. The team focuses on all stages of the TMT sector from early stage businesses to FTSE100 names. In the last couple of years they have developed a specialism in financing high growth and disruptive companies through the launch of a venture debt product – the only major UK bank currently offering this service. Sean obtained a PhD in physics before training as an actuary. He worked in insurance and consultancy before moving across to Banking. He has been active in the world of corporate finance for the last ten years across a range of different sectors and asset classes.
