Stuart Black – Acquisition search
Stuart has spent his entire career in the support services sector working across a range of Consultancy, BPO and blue collar service businesses. He has spent the last 30 years involved in private and public sector outsourcing across a range of sectors and markets working with public companies, private and family owned companies, as well as private equity backed businesses. Stuart is currently Chairman of TCL Group, backed by BGF.
Stuart’s previous positions include Executive Chairman of Lakehouse plc, Chairman APT Controls (Risk Capital partners), Chairman Wigmore Holdings (Next Wave Private Equity), Chairman STG (Barclays Ventures), CEO Mears Group plc, Director of Mouchel plc, Director Citex, Director Bucknall Group plc.
Stuart is a qualified Chartered Surveyor, has an MBA from Henley business school and an AMP from Wharton Business School University of Pennsylvania.

Keith Fleming – Retail
Keith is Non-Executive Director of BGF portfolio company Rutland Cycling. He is a Chartered Accountant who has considerable experience working with SMEs, publicly listed companies and private equity, predominantly in the retail sector. He has held the position of both CEO and CFO at Woolworths in the 1990s and was also CFO and deputy CEO of Blacks Leisure Group. Keith can support you with the following:

John Farrell – Marketing and Media
John Farrell is currently serving as a Non-Executive Director /Chairman for several advertising, media, marketing services and retail businesses, including: Albion, DWA, Cognifide, Acceleration, DNX OgilvyOne, John Brown Media, Adjust Your Set, Four Communications, FEED, Been There Done That (BTDT) and Octopus Group. John also provides consultancy services to The European Golf Tour, Saatchi & Saatchi, Quintessentially, Leagas Delaney and an assortment of other companies. John was most recently responsible for all of Publicis Groupe Worldwide Specialised Agencies and Marketing Services (SAMS) with effect from the beginning of 2003. Previously, John has been President and CEO of D’ Arcy Worldwide, one of the top ten global advertising and communication networks; President of the IMP (now ‘Arc’) European Network of Direct and Promotional Marketing Businesses; and he has some client-side experience with Atlas Copco, Butlins UK and LRC International. John is also Honorary President of the Institute of Sales Promotion, and Founder Member of the Direct Marketing Association of Great Britain. He has a BA (Hons) in Business Studies from Nottingham Trent University, where he is now Visiting Professor of Marketing.

Gi Fernando – Social Media & Internet
Gi is an engineer, marketer and entrepreneur. Having founded and built a number of successful businesses in the last 20 years including Techlightenment – the leader in social insight and advertising (sold to Experian plc in 2011) – he now concentrates on investing and supporting ambitious UK startups and scaleups including Citymapper, YPlan, Streetlife, TechWillSaveUs, Playmob and Big Health as well as helping a number of FTSE organisations on digital strategy and transformation. His particular passion is unlocking UK digital talent from a diverse population and he is on the board of Apps For Good, Young Rewired State, Freeformers and the Duke of York’s IDEA programme. He also sits on the advisory council of the Institute of Contemporary Art and steering board of iRights.uk.
Paul Campbell – Success in today’s Leisure industry
Paul has been involved in the creation, development and sale of a number of the UK’s most highly regarded leisure businesses.
Earlier in his career, Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PriceWaterhouse, before running the Corporate Finance advisory business of FTSE100 company, The Capita Group PLC.
In the 1990’s he founded, grew and successfully sold a 100 site sports facility and fitness club business, before joining the Board of PizzaExpress PLC as Finance Director. Following the sale of PizzaExpress in 2003 for £278m, he founded and floated restaurant developer The Clapham House Group PLC, later selling the business to Nando’s Group Holdings Limited.
Paul now runs a portfolio of investments through his own LLP, Hill Capital Partners. He also invests in and advises a number of private equity funds.
Paul is currently Non-Executive Director or Chairman of several fast growing businesses in the F & B sector including Hawksmoor, Tortilla, Vinoteca, The Alchemist and Hickory’s. He also serves on the Boards of two hotel business, Halcyon Hotels and Resorts plc and Palladian Hotels and Resorts Ltd and is Chairman of urban fitness club operator Gymbox. He is also a seed investor in several early stage restaurant and leisure businesses.

Peter Bertram – Business & Support services
Peter has extensive, first-hand experience in the business services sector and was formerly CEO of Azlan Group plc from 1998 until its takeover in 2003. Peter is currently Non-Executive Chairman of Phoenix IT Group plc and Senior Independent Non-Executive Director of Microgen plc. He was previously Chairman of Alphameric plc and AttentiV Systems Group plc as well as Non-Executive Director of Anite plc and Psion plc. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Geoff Percy – Consumer Brand Building
Geoff started his career in the health and beauty business at Smith & Nephew in 1980. In June 2000, he completed a management buy-out to create Accantia. As CEO, he oversaw the new group’s operations in the UK, South Africa and Australia. In 2004, he completed a secondary management buy-out and following various disposals rebranded the business to the Simple Health & Beauty Group in 2009.
With Simple having grown rapidly to become the number one brand in volume, Geoff completed the sale of the business in 2011 for £240m to Alberto Culver/Unilever, guiding the transition from private back to multinational ownership.
Geoff now chairs Bronnley, Orion Media, and SLG. He is a past Chairman of the CTPA, the CBI in the West Midlands and also the Founders Association of Warwick Business School.
Patrick Lee – Lean Manufacturing
Patrick is a Senior Productivity and Performance Consultant at EEF. He has been in this role since January 2014 and is a returning member of the team having previously been employed at EEF for nine years. Patrick is a member of an experienced team which helps EEF’s customers grow their businesses by improving productivity and developing employee skills. Patrick has spent nearly 20 years in manufacturing with extensive experience of supporting companies across many sectors. Before joining EEF, Patrick held a number of international and UK roles including World Class Performance Coach for APW Ltd. and Design Manager for Mitsubishi Electric MCEUKA.
Martin Clifford- King – M & A – post deal implementation
Martin is commercially focused and analytical, with more than 25 years of experience in retail, leisure and healthcare multi-site, pure-play, omni-channel businesses with turnover from £50m to £1.5bn. Martin’s experience includes two years as Operating Partner of a private equity firm, six years as CFO/FD of four listed companies and four years as CFO/FD of four private equity backed businesses.
He has experience with both difficult turnaround situations as well as supporting growth in strong profitable businesses. In addition, he also has international experience of working with subsidiaries, JVs and investors in France, Germany, USA, China, Taiwan and Russia.
For the last 7 years, Martin has run his own company, Lordsbury Consulting Ltd, providing financial expertise on a consultancy or interim basis to consumer businesses in both growth and turnaround situations including Wiggle, Clinton Cards, The Practice, Office Shoes, HobbyCraft, Whistles, Costa Coffee, mkone and Leisure & Gaming.
Tom Ilube – Cyber Security & tech transfer from universities
Tom Ilube is Founder and CEO of Crossword Cybersecurity PLC, the ISDX-listed technology commercialisation company that focuses exclusively on cyber security. Previously he was Managing Director of Consumer Markets at Callcredit Information Group, the private equity backed UK credit reference agency, sold in 2014. Prior to Callcredit, Tom founded and was CEO of Garlik, a venture capital-backed identity protection company, sold to Experian in 2011. Earlier, Tom was part of the founding team and Chief Information Officer of Egg plc, the pioneering UK internet bank. His earlier career included Goldman Sachs, PwC, Cap Gemini and the London Stock Exchange.
Tom chaired Innovate UK’s Network Security Innovation panel. He was a member of the High Level Expert Group on Cybersecurity at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a Geneva based UN-agency. In 2008 Tom was selected as a World Economic Forum, Davos, Technology Pioneer.
